  • The deviations of the Guinean educational system

    This text aims to analyse educational processes in Guinea-Bissau and, with that, to weave some considerations around the current educational model. The countries of the Global South, such as Guinea-Bissau, where human development, the fight against poverty, access to education, the country's economic growth, and the improvement of living conditions are priority areas and still a concern. Education is no longer seen as a mere transmission of knowledge, but also a tool for empowerment, social transformation, decision-making power, promoting better living and working conditions. The Guinean Government over the next decade will have to invest in the education system, based on concerted strategies, to reduce inequalities in access, as well as issues of equity and inclusion of all in school.

    Sao Tome and Principe is a tiny small island country with a very young population, 60% are under 25, of working age population with a voice to intervene in society and its transformation. Although there have been many improvements in education and health care, the truth is that there is a problem of deprivation, with many children and young people suffering from social exclusion, violence and lack of opportunities. Knowing that education is the most powerful weapon to transform a society, a cultured and educated population will have decision making power and the ability to defend themselves and fight for their rights.

    En este capítulo abordaremos la temática del teatro aplicado como herramienta para la promoción y prevención de la salud. Desde las dos últimas décadas del pasado siglo empieza a utilizarse en el ámbito anglosajón el término teatro aplicado para referirse al uso del teatro en otros escenarios y con otras finalidades distintas a las del teatro convencional (Motos y Ferrandis, 2015). Este tipo de teatro se enfoca en ayudar a individuos o colectivos con carencias en alguna dimensión personal o social, vivida como privación y concretada en insatisfacción, exclusión, marginación u opresión.
