- Advertising campaign development: insight from internship in an advertising agency in NigeriaPublication . Amaechi, Ogadinma Angela; Guerreiro, ManuelaAdvertising campaigns are essential tools for organizations to engage with their target audience, influence brand perceptions, and ultimately impact customer behavior, as supported by various scholarly works. Internship agencies play a crucial role in managing the creation and implementation of these campaigns, especially in a dynamic advertising industry. This internship report outlines the candidate's activities during an internship at Mediatek Global Services, Nigeria, from September 20, 2023, to January 10, 2024. For this internship, the following activities were performed in order to address the objectives set by the company: a) to study how campaigns are developed and executed at Mediatek Global Services, b) how advertising messages are received by the target audience by evaluating the success of the campaign through hands-on internship experience, c) how the creative development process impacts conversion rates at Mediatek Global Services and d) the elements that influence the virality and shareability of advertising content. The research utilized an action research approach for data collection. It revealed that Mediatek Global Services employed three primary campaign execution strategies: Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC), Targeted Digital Advertising, and Content Marketing and Storytelling. The campaigns resulted in positive brand awareness outcomes, with brand recall increasing from 28%-32% to 50%-60% post-campaign. The creative development process was found to significantly impact conversion rates, with an average increase of 1.5%. The study also highlighted challenges faced during campaign development, including a limited understanding of the target audience, tight timelines, budget constraints, poor communication, and resource allocation issues. These findings offer valuable insights into the effectiveness of communication strategies, emphasizing a sophisticated and multifaceted approach that aligns with contemporary theories of communication strategy and advertising. Despite the success of Mediatek’s campaigns in enhancing brand awareness, there are areas for improvement. Customizing content to audience preferences, adopting more flexible and adaptive campaign planning, and integrating advanced analytics could further enhance engagement and conversion rates. This report not only documents the candidate's internship activities but also provides a critical evaluation of advertising strategies employed, showcasing a blend of traditional and digital methods.

- A critical analysis of the portuguese framework for entrepreneurship education considering the entreComp competence frameworkPublication . ESPINGARDEIRO BANHA, FRANCISCO MANUEL; Graça, André Rui; Góis, BeatrizThis paper critically examines the recently approved Portuguese Framework for Entrepreneurship Education (REE), in 2024, a key policy document aimed at implementing entrepreneurship education (EE) in compulsory public education. It addresses the historical context and current challenges of EE in Portugal, where participation in EE programmes has been limited. The REE is part of a broader initiative under the Citizenship Education subject, aiming to develop entrepreneurial skills among students as they progress through the education system. This article explores the evolution of EE frameworks, particularly focusing on the European Entrepreneurship Competence Framework (EntreComp), which has been widely adopted across Europe. It investigates how these frameworks, including the REE, contribute to the development of entrepreneurial competencies—skills that go beyond business creation to foster creativity, resilience, and problem-solving. The paper also highlights the benefits and challenges of implementing EE, including the need for tailored teaching materials and the importance of teacher support. By presenting Portugal’s recent efforts to integrate EE into its curriculum, this paper contributes to the international discourse on effective strategies for fostering entrepreneurial skills. It emphasises the role of such frameworks in overcoming barriers to EE, ensuring inclusivity, and addressing the evolving needs of global education systems in the face of rapid socio-economic changes.

- Editorial 48Publication . Gato, Maria Assunção; Cruz, Ana RitaThe thematic dossier in this issue 48 holds special significance for the journal CIDADES, Comunidades e Territórios (CITIES, Communities and Territories). It pays a modest tribute to one of its founders, Vítor Matias Ferreira, who passed away a year ago. The dossier includes a collection of testimonies from people who closely followed part of his research journey in urban studies, as well as from the person who helped him establish and strengthen this journal, which we value deeply. A limited number of testimonies will inevitably fall short of capturing the full impact of someone who was actively involved in civic and intellectual life throughout his career, influencing multiple generations. However, as preserving collective memories becomes increasingly crucial in our fast-paced, information-overloaded era that often fosters social apathy, we hope this dossier will spark interest in Vítor Matias Ferreira’s work among younger generations. This would be one of the greatest tributes we can offer him.
- Enhancing health and well-being among young people in GhanaPublication . Tsiquaye, Abigail Emma; Ferreira, Lara de NoronhaBackground There has been a sense of urgency driving recent discussions and improving the health and well-being of young people in our societies. There are various global goals and objectives aimed at improving the lives of these young people. Despite this, little has been done to improve their health and well-being. Objective This study explores the current state of health and well-being among a section of Ghanaian young people, variables that affect young people’s health and well-being, factors and risky behaviors that contribute to their current state, and how to enhance their overall health and well-being. Methods A sample of young people (aged 15-24) were randomly selected from four educational institutions in Ashanti and Central regions in Ghana. A questionnaire composed of four sections measured health-related quality of life (HRQoL), satisfaction with life, personal well-being, and sociodemographic profile. Descriptive statistical analyses were carried out to describe the sample and the respondents' quality of life as well as satisfaction with life and well-being. Inferential statistical analyses included Pearson Correlation Coefficient, T-tests and ANOVA tests to analyze the sample. Results Results showed that the current health state of the respondents is good but young people do not have excellent conditions of life. In terms of HRQol, the study indicated that young people do not have issues with mobility, self-care, doing their usual activities, pain/discomfort and anxiety/depression. Moreover, the study showed that there is a clear relationship between gender and quality of life as males reported a higher quality of life than females. Conclusion This report recommends that the government, policymakers, and stakeholders strengthen the health care provision of the country for young people. Moreover, evidence from this report indicates the importance of implementing various strategies to improve the quality of life and life satisfaction of the younger population.
- Factors influencing access to finance among jordanian SMEs: examining the role of P2P lending fintech, information asymmetry, transaction cost, and financial literacyPublication . Doumi, Ammar Fakhri; Begum, Halima; Doumi, Fakhri Bani; Alam, A. S. A. FerdousThe aim of this research is to examine the correlation between Peer-to-Peer (P2P) lending financial technology (Fintech), information asymmetry, transaction cost, financial literacy, and access to finance among Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Jordan. The study used Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) to analyze data collected from a sample of 335 SMEs in Jordan. The study’s findings indicate that information asymmetry and transaction cost have a notable and adverse impact on access to finance. On the other hand, P2P lending Fintech has no direct effect on access to finance. Additionally, financial literacy significantly moderates the relationship between P2P lending and access to finance among SMEs. In conclusion, P2P lending Fintech has been proven to help Jordanian SMEs’ access financing when financial literacy interacts as a moderator. This study contributes to the extant literature on how financial literacy moderates the relationship between P2P lending and SMEs’ access to finance. Finally, the results of this research benefit SMEs’ owners/managers by providing them with empirically validated insights into the factors that affect their ability to access financing. Additional research should investigate many categories of Fintech tools, such as crowdfunding, blockchain, and other related technologies. Furthermore, it is necessary to examine additional factors that impact the ability to get financial resources, such as collateral and management risk, and it is important to assess the influence of financial management regulations on these factors.
- From host's descriptions to guests' reviews: semantic similaritiesPublication . Cavique, Mariana; Ribeiro, Ricardo; Batista, Fernando; Correia, AntóniaThis study investigates the semantic alignment between Airbnb property descriptions and guest reviews. Word2Vec embeddings and affinity propagation clustering are used to identify granular semantic concepts, enabling a detailed comparison of the two text types. A new metric, concept coverage ratio, is introduced to measure the extent to which the guest review content is reflected in property descriptions. Results show that a higher concept coverage ratio is generally associated with more positive sentiment in reviews, suggesting that better alignment between host and guest perspectives contributes to guest satisfaction. However, longer and detailed descriptions may limit the potential for pleasantly surprising guests, as it reduces the chance for positive disconfirmation. These findings offer practical insights for improving communication in peer-to-peer accommodation.
